JOB SUMMARY

Elevate Robotics is looking for an Electrical Engineer with proven hands-on capabilities and a strong practical background. We are primarily interested in candidates with prior implementation experience in robotics hardware but will consider EEs with electromechanical/controls design experience. In this role, you will rapidly develop, test, and iterate electric systems from ideation to delivery, including printed circuit board assemblies, wire harnesses, test hardware and firmware, while considering cost, DFM/DFX and compliance issues.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with mechanical, software, and systems teams to conceptualize, specify and implement a novel robotic manipulator

  • Prototype electrical systems at both system and board levels

  • Generate design documentation such as schematics, layouts, wiring diagrams, and assembly and cable drawings

  • Analyze circuits and electrical systems for thermal, power, and other performance factors

  • Specify and select electrical components such as microcontrollers, servo drives, sensors, and safety systems for robotics and automation uses

  • Design systems compliant with safety standards and regulatory requirements

  • Convert prototype designs to custom circuit board specifications

  • Capture electronics schematics and generate PCB designs for manufacturing

  • Create and execute validation and acceptance test plans for intermediate and final products, including test fixture design and software development

  • Participate in debugging and root cause analysis related to hardware and software defect resolution

  • Interface with internal and external manufacturing teams to enhance design for test, manufacturing, and assembly

  • Identify and develop new technologies including innovative power, motor, control, and sensing solutions

Must Have

  • Undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant industry experience

  • Very strong electrical engineering fundamentals

  • Familiarity with electronics lab tools

  • Experience with simulation tools (ex: LTSpice, PSpice)

  • Excellent communication (verbal & written); will be expected to develop detailed build assembly instructions and diagrams

  • Proven experience designing, prototyping and debugging PCBs

  • A positive attitude and a strong interest in learning new ideas and skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail and engineering discipline

  • Capable of multi-tasking and managing multiple deadlines

  • Great team player able to perform within a dynamic start-up environment

Nice To Have

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 3+ years of relevant industry experience

  • Proficiency in using Altium Designer

  • Experience designing electronics for functional safety systems

  • Experience designing electronics for lightweight, space-constrained systems

  • Experience with motors and motor controllers

  • Experience designing power electronic systems

  • Experience implementing embedded systems on robots and troubleshooting hardware

  • Experience with battery integration and battery management

  • Experience with embedded systems programming

  • Proficiency in Python or C/C++

Qualities
